Parish Committees and Organizations

A Choir of two dozen volunteers, often supplemented by instrumentalists, not only provides leadership for congregational singing, but offers anthems during the offertory and communion. Some choir members also play handbells. Special programs are offered at Christmas, Epiphany, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost. In addition, major programs are presented in place of the sermon on one Sunday in Advent and one Sunday in Lent.

The Fellowship Committee gathers members of the parish together in events such as a Steak Fry in October, a spaghetti dinner on Epiphany, "best shot" golf tournaments, and various other outings and celebrations. The Fellowship Committee welcomes all newcomers to the parish with a home-baked loaf of bread delivered to their homes.

The Nursery Committee provides for child care at the 10 a.m. Sunday Eucharist and at special classes, meetings and events at the church. A regular paid caregiver on Sunday mornings is assisted by parent and teen volunteers.

The Outreach Committee organizes and heads programs such as:

  • a quarterly blood drive at the church
  • a monthly food drive on behalf of Paz de Cristo, providing dinner for seven nights for 50 men and sack lunches for the next day at East Valley Transitional Living and Training Center, temporary housing and counseling for homeless men.
  • a Christmas Adopt-a-Family program serving local families
  • a Back-to-School shoe & sock, backpack and clothing drive for the children of the families we adopted at Christmas
  • preparing and serving food weekly to 150-200 homeless persons through Paz de Cristo, an agency sponsored by a nearby Roman Catholic church

Opportunities for outreach abound. A booklet which details our programs and projects is available through the parish office or through the committee chairperson. All interested persons are invited to attend their monthly meetings.

Other groups are listed on the page entitled Fellowship Opportunities .
